I hear, I see, I post: January 2012

Hot 2012 trends

2012 had arrived, and some are in denial that 2012 haven exactly arrived (after being at the countdown). Below are some terminologies to prove you are living in the new year.

Timeline
The only timeline some might heard is their twitter timeline. Only now, Facebook had introduced timeline. And in 2012, timeline is going to be the buzz word. With social media sites using this word- timeline. To me, it is more of ‘stalking’ software. With the new facebook timeline, friends and subscribers can literally track what you are typing as status updates on your Facebook profile. Despite being the same word, twitter timeline and Facebook timeline are not the same.

Google Plus
Social media largely is being dominated by Linkedin, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter. Now, with a new chip off the wall, Google Plus, it looks set that the social media scene is changing. With a new competitor, can users be able to fully comprehend and utilise both social media hand-in-hand successfully like how they use Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr simultaneously? And will Google Plus be of any hindrance to Facebook IPO (which is like $1 billion). Also, with the advent of loss of privacy and super injunction imposed, is there any legal ruling to enforce such in place in the cyber world?

Super injunctions
What is actually frustrating to all journalists is of this injunction imposed by celebrities. Some examples should be famous footballers like Ryan Giggs. Although traditional press are not able to report over the matter, but watch helplessly on Twitter, where thousands of netizens were actively twitting about Ryan Giggs, deliberating breaking his gagging order. I, of course, am no exception. What makes it worse, was that none of the twitter accounts were suspended. There is a grey area, which must to be address. When addressed, It meant that anyone with a restraining order should not follow him/her on all social media platform, including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger and Path. Sound so fucked up.

Path
Path, one of a smartphone only social media platform to rival Facebook and twtter. It is known as a Facebook and Twitter and Tumblr all-in-one app. Currently accessible only via smartphones, industry observers are watching on, if it will be the next big thing. A surprise that my Internet Marketing tutor did not know of this Path. Epic fail, him.

9gag
When all the awesome post you find in the past is at tumblr. But now, it’s 9gag. Like a social media site, users can post pictures or interesting quotations relating to them freely on the site. You just need to log in using your Facebook accounts. With a vast topic covered, like Kim Jung Un, Russia 140% elections, this site is the place to go to spend your time in endless fun with memes, good guy Greg and irritating Facebook bitch. A warning, cuteness overload for some postings.

2012

Here’s a youtube video found on my fb feed. Oh, and it’s now not called FB wall, it’s called timeline now, losers. Just like twitter timeline. Basically about 2 mad girl dancing at an Apple store.

Majority of projects are due soon (next week!!!). It seemed like it is going to be completed soon (idk why but I think we’re on track) with like 1 project meeting only and all other groupies have meetings almost every other tutorials (not joking…). Best of all, these meetings were ‘unproductive’ where they do not really do their work (piles of workload waiting to be done OTOT [own time own target].  Can totally understand how their daily meetings are really like…waiting for other members, slack for a while, play games, talk cock, type 3 sentences, go online for secondary research, discuss a bit of how’s the project’s like. And before you knew it, it’s the end of yet another day. To give them credit, a lot of creative ideas were conceived from such chit chat idle sessions.

Does everybody seemed to be mindful of their choice of words these days? Like all over again with the phrase (which I’m sick of hearing), PC- Political Correctness. I say PCGM- Political correctness Gone Mad. In this context of achieving/striving for PC, it is all madness. Well, pointing out somebody who isn’t PC, is already a case of breaking the PC law. Anyway, PC is so unwritten, and easy to break. And I’m thinking, now, it is political correctness gone mad. Such fun!

Another new phenomenon is that everyone’s back to minding your own business, walking straight to your journey. Looking ahead, and not turning the head left, right to observe however green the leaves are or the overcast skies. 2011 is where people stop and observe. Now 2012, everyone else is now minding their own business. Well, more or less so, but it can’t hurt you to stop and know the colour of the pavement you’re stepping on. Sooner or later, nobody will have an exact idea of the colour of the sky.

Entertainment wise, everything is still the same old hog. Raymond Lam won the TVB awards, Doctor Who is not cancelled (but confidential is) and Eastenders is the same old kitchen sink boring soap opera. You promised me broadway, why are we struck at Hollywood? But I’m dying to watch the new movie on Margaret Thatcher.

Doctor Who, Not Going Out, Miranda, Mrs Brown’s Boys and of course Holby Hospital (Casualty and Holby City) are or will be back to accompany me on 2012. But why on earth do they cancel How Not To Live Your Life? Life is so unfair. But as the saying goes, Cameron made the bed, and Nick is going to lie in it. Seemed like we are powerless against those controllers who have not a single faint idea what we want.

Cranberry Scones

Scones from Wild Honey...at $4.50 each before GST, it sure is kind of a steep price. However, the quality make up for the price, with the nice aroma as well as the juicy berries and the sweet jam.

My fav BBC show airing (or just finised) right now (:

1. Great Expectations, a BBC One 3 episode drama (which ended it's run yesterday). Based on the novel by the same name written by Charles Dickens. A show, being critised for having a cast who is either too young, or too good looking. Too young? But sure, actress Gillian Anderson sure can pull off her trick without much effort on her own part. Her elegance poise, speech, manners fully showcast her talents....and it's put to good use. Anyway, why waste a women looks if she fits the bill?
Too pretty? Pretty boy Douglas Booth, acting as Pip in this show have looks which will put co-star Vanessa Kirby to shame. But the whole stella cast sure makes this show a must watch to end of 2011, and kick start 2012 with a loud big BANG!

2. The Royal Bodyguard. Starring the ever so comedic and young-at-heart David Jason as a 'walking disaster', Guy Hubble. His character is a must to watch, with numerous antic which never fails to amuse us. No doubt some moves might be cliche and cheese, but, with BBC controller cancelling shows like How not to Live your Life, this is the next best alternative (other than Mrs Brown's Boys).

3. Holby City. This long epic medical drama sure is one of the best of it's kind. With storyline so heartwarming giving you a fuzzy feeling in your heart and comedic lines, with the run in recurring joke (which i find it funny) with Chantelle, Hanssan, Malick...this is sure not to miss.
4. Mrs Brown's Boys. Written and starring Brendan O'Carroll as Agnes Brown...is now back with a second season. Now, her favourite boy is back from the mission, and with Grand-dad not dead...with her middle-class living and manner and speech...from her 'comparing' with Hilary (in-law), to her antics and 'fecking' instead of Fucking. One of the funniest show ever.
